Displays introductions to chapters and some sections.

Comments on verses
Displays author's occasional comments on Bible verses. They are indented and have a left border, as illustrated by this paragraph.
The Individual toggles option (the default) displays a speech icon after any passage with a comment – as at the end of this paragraph. Users tap the icon to display the comment.

Questions
Displays questions towards the end of the pages that have Scripture passages.

Verse footnotes
Displays footnotes beneath passages that have a superscript footnote marker, e.g. "Davidm".
The Individual toggles option (the default) displays an icon containing "ax" after any passage with a footnote – as at the end of this paragraph. Users tap the icon to display the footnote.

Links to page sections
Shows links at the top of pages to the sections on the page.

Links to subsections
Shows links at the start of a section to its subsections. In-Depth Edition only.

Links to ‘Page Headings’
Enables headings (on pages with verses) to link to the corresponding headings in the ‘Page Headings’ lists, at the bottom of the page. This aids navigation.
The headings will be underlined to indicate they are links. Activate Remove underlining to remove this.

Links to related topics
Shows occasional links to sections with a related theme. In the In-Depth Edition, links to relevant verses in adjacent subsections are also shown.

Links to Scripture Index
Displays a link to each Scripture passage's entry in the Scripture Index, showing where the passage is used in the edition.
The Show/hide if tap a verse option initially does not display any of these links. But when a user taps a passage, its link to the Scripture Index is toggled on, as displayed here:

Applies formatting to the parts of verses to which the subheadings refer.
The Unit-colored text and Unit-colored highlight options use colors that are based on the colors used for headings in the eights units. For example, Unit B headings are red, so these options would use a reddish color for key text in Unit B.
Note that the Color options that are displayed vary depending on the background selection, below.

Displays a colored background. The slider varies the lightness. Note that the "Unit based" options do not apply to the Two Minute Edition.

Bible Websites
These settings enable users to quickly create a link to a Bible website to check a passage's context.
Translations
If biblegateway.com or biblia.com is selected in the previous setting, the link address is modified to open in the translation selected here.

Settings Display
These options affect what is displayed in Settings. They have no effect on the 7 editions.
Show explanations
This displays explanations for each setting, immediately below each setting.
Current edition's settings
If Settings has been accessed from one of the editions, only settings applicable to that edition are displayed. This also hides the colored bars, irrespective of whether Hide colored bars (below) is active or not.
Hide colored bars
This hides the colored bars below each setting. It is unavailable when Current edition's settings (above) is switched on, as the latter will hide the colored bars irrespective of this setting's state.

Settings Display

The Settings Display section allows users to choose what is displayed in Settings. The options are as follows.

  • Display explanations: This displays explanations for each setting, immediately below each setting.
  • Current edition's settings: If Settings has been accessed from one of the editions, only settings applicable to that edition are displayed. (This also hides the colored bars, irrespective of whether Hide colored bars is active or not.)
  • Hide colored bars: This hides the colored bars below each setting.

The Colored Bars

The colored bars with abbreviations under each setting indicate to which editions each setting applies. There is a legend for the colors and abbreviations at the end of each page (in Settings).

Options are 'grayed out' if:

  • they are not relevant for the user’s device size; or
  • they are dependent on a previous setting being switched on.
