Displays introductions to chapters and some sections.
Comments on verses

Displays author's occasional comments on Bible verses.
Questions
Displays questions towards the end of the pages that have Scripture passages.
Footnotes


Displays footnotes (beneath passages with a footnote marker).

Links to page sections
Shows links at the top of pages to the sections on the page.
Links to subsections


Shows links at the start of a section to its subsections. In-Depth Edition only.
Links to ‘Page Headings’
Enables headings (on pages with verses) to link to the corresponding headings in the ‘Page Headings’ lists, at the bottom of the page.
This aids navigation, especially with the longer editions on a mobile.
Links to related topics


Shows occasional links to sections with a related theme.
Links to Scripture Index


Displays a link to each Scripture passage's index entry. The "Show/hide" option initially does not display any of these links. But when a user taps a verse (or passage), its link to the Scripture Index is toggled on/off.
Layout

All screens

Base font size *
Changes the size of the text in the main window.
Line height *
Changes the line spacing in the main window.
Justify text
Aligns paragraphs on both the left and right margins. Does not apply to major headings and lists.
Unpin bottom bar
Unpins the bottom bar so that it is hidden while users scroll down, allowing more text to be viewed. Scrolling up redisplays it.

Wide screens

Side pane
Moves page headings (and any questions) from the end of the page to a side pane.
Show menu by default
Displays the menu when a new page is opened.

Applies formatting to the parts of verses to which the subheadings refer.
Color options vary depending on the current unit and background selection, below.

Lighter
Displays a colored background. The slider varies the lightness. Note that the "Unit based" options do not apply to the Two Minute Edition.
Verse style (serif) *
Gives verses a serif font, to contrast with headings and comments.

Note that the Page Background "Unit based" options do not apply such colors to the Two Minute Edition, as it does not contain the eight units.

Bible Websites
The purpose of the following settings is to enable users to quickly go to a Bible website to check a passage's context.
Translations
If biblegateway.com or biblia.com is selected in the previous setting, the link address is modified to open in the translation selected here.
Help

The Colored Strips

The strips with colors under each setting indicate to which editions each setting applies. The Color Key at the bottom of the screen shows which editions are represented by the colors.

Display Options

The ellipsis button (top RHS) shows the following options:

  • Current edition: If Settings has been accessed from one of the editions, only settings applicable to that edition are displayed.
  • Hide explanations: Hides the explanations under each setting.

Reverting to Default Settings

To reset settings to their default status, tap:

Unavailable Options

Options are 'grayed out' if:

  • they are not relevant for the user’s device size; or
  • they are dependent on a previous setting being switched on.

Icons

On wider screens, somes of the settings display an icon. These same icons can appear on the top bar of the larger editions.

These editions have a Toggles button on the RHS of their top bar. When it is activated, buttons (containing icons) are displayed that toggle various settings on and off. These toggles save users from having to go back to Settings.
